No, there wasn’t any American “occupation”
April 22, 2008
Jubal aka Matt Cunningham over at Red County/OC Blog pointed out here that in an OC Register column about Trong Doan the protester, Frank Mickadeit (photo)
twice referred to what the U.S. did in Vietnam as an “occupation.”
The Bolsavik used to have to fight this battle all the time when he was in college in the 1980s. All sorts of people — otherwise well-informed, reasonable people — would swallow the Soviet line hook, line and sinker that the U.S. was acting in some sort of colonialistic manner in Vietnam.
As the Bolsavik moved to areas with more Vietnamese and people are more understanding of the Vietnamese point of view, the Bolsavik has seen less and less of that problem. Until now.

A typical case of leftist “emotional reasoning.”
